Over 90% of Harris County Affected by "Unprecedented" Tax Increase

The Harris County Appraisal District began mailing their annual "Notice of Appraisal" to over 1.3 million property owners in the Houston area this month. Chief Appraiser Roland Altinger published a video on HCAD's homepage detailing the chaos in the Houston area marketplace over the last year. So after facing lockdowns, inflation, high unemployment, etc. Houstonians can now look forward to drastically higher property tax bills the fall. So far, over 9,000 property owners have decided to protest their property taxes, with many more expected to follow suit. With the average tax increase being over 20%, who could blame them?
