Samsung announced on 11/23/2021 that it has chosen Taylor, TX as the site of the site of their newest manufacturing facility. Samsung is reportedly committing $17 billion to the project. The decision came after Samsung was granted tax break by Taylor ISD, the City of Taylor, and Williamson County worth hundreds of millions of dollars over the next 20 years. The deal comes with the stipulation that Samsung must develop 6 million square feet of space by 2026 and create 1,800 full-time jobs at the facility. Williamson County residents are likely to their tax assessments increase even more than usual in the coming years as a result of the tax breaks granted to Samsung.
